Abortion

I hate (well, dislike) the moralistic arguments on both sides of the pro-life/pro-choice battle. Morally, abortion lies somewhere between birth control and murder. If it’s done early, it’s a lot like birth control (Catholic orthodoxy notwithstanding, morally pure). Done late, it’s a lot like murder. And it should never be undertaken lightly.

  1. The choice can usually be made prior to the romp in the bedroom. To be careless and then to abort is indeed morally wrong. Responsibility is not a dirty word. If I know my hand will be burned by touching a hot burner, I think about my choices beforehand, and I choose not to touch the hot burner. If I know my sex without protection will cause me to have to consider a choice that (as you say) is “morally somewhere between birth control and murder,” GOSH, why is this so hard to figure out?

Plus, birth control costs much less than an abortion and carries less medical risk. Might want to try to think about birth control beforehand rather than have an abortion afterwards. It’s just kind of a lot simpler way to do things.
